Sanctuary of Fátima: The Basilica and the Colonnades

On the top of the main door we can find the statue of Mary´s Immaculate Heart and the monogram "NSRF" that means: Our Lady of Rosary of Fátima.
The tower with its 62 bells serving as base to a magnificent brass crown which has a cross, when illuminated, it can be sighted to some kilometers from Fátima.

Official Statue of Our Lady of Fátima

The "official" statue of Our Lady of Fátima is exposed in the little Chapel of Apparitions, standing on a marble column and protected with a glass structure. The statue is carried in solemn procession every anniversary of the Apparitions.

Apparitions Chapel

A little Chapel was built in honour of Our Lady, where she appeared to the little shepherds. The works began on April 28, 1919.
The Chapel of the Apparitions as we Know it today, was inaugurated on May 12, 1982, during the visit of the Holy Pope John Paul II to Fátima.

The statues of the little shepherds (Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta) are made of marble, arranged on a slape with an "Obelisk" at the end, which symbolizes from the primordium times, the connection of the profane person to God; from earth to Heaven.
